Fellows Riverside Gardens
Youngstown, Ohio
September 2014

This 12 acre garden was established in 1958. It is free to the public.

The exterior of the Visitor Center is is very interesting and provides a nice welcome from the parking lot.

Fellows Riverside Visitor Center

At the back of the Visitor Center is a small formal garden looking over the water. It’s a beautiful view but I wish there had been some interpretation of the view.

Water View

The grounds are divided into a number of display gardens, including this formal rose garden. The tightly clipped hedges and white entry arbors create a lovely experience. The roses (and most plants) are well-labeled.

Rose Garden

There are a variety of path surfaces throughout the garden, including flagstones, pavers, grass and gravel. All are beautiful and very well maintained.

Fellows Walkway

The Children’s Garden offers lots of hands-on opportunities for kids and has a variety of whimsical artwork that makes it interesting for adults.

Other highlights include an herb and fragrance garden, a dahlia garden, a shade garden and great woody plant collections including beeches, rhododendrons and more.

This is a lovely small garden that offers lots of opportunities for the local community.
